Which professional learning track should we attend?
The 2025 Academy is designed for district wellness teams in Connecticut. We are offering two simultaneous professional learning tracks. When registering for the Academy, teams will indicate the track they will attend. Both tracks require advance planning by the team:

Track A: Finalizing Triennial Wellness Assessments is designed for teams who have started their LSWP triennial assessment and want support generating their results. Teams in Track A must complete Step 1 and Step 2 of the triennial assessment in advance of the Academy. At the Academy, Track A teams will:

  • Receive tailored support to complete their district’s Second LSWP Triennial Assessment to meet USDA requirements (Steps 3 and 4 of the triennial assessment)
  • Develop next steps for improving their district’s school health environment
  • Learn from other district teams engaged in improving school wellness using the WSCC model

Track B: High-Quality Wellness Action Planning is designed for teams who have completed their LWSP triennial assessment and want support using their results to create high-quality action plans to strengthen the school health environment. Teams in Track B must complete the entire triennial assessment (Steps 1-4) in advance of the Academy. At the Academy, Track B teams will:

  • Use their district’s Second LSWP Triennial Assessment results to develop action plans to strengthen the school health environment
  • Articulate steps to measure the impact of action plans to strengthen the school health environment
  • Learn from other district teams engaged in improving school wellness using the WSCC model

If my team is attending Track A: Finalizing Triennial Wellness Assessments, who should we send to the Academy?
Districts should send 3-4 members of their interdisciplinary district wellness team. For Track A, it is recommended that the district send the individuals who are leading the triennial assessment process. The titles/roles of those individuals may vary from district to district. However, it is common for those leading the triennial assessment process to include a Food Services Director or Registered Dietician, a Health/Physical Education Department Chair or lead teacher, and at least once district-level administrator. Please reach out to Kate Williamson, Project Coordinator for the CT WSCC Partnership (ctwscc@uconn.edu) if you would like to discuss your district’s team membership before registering.

If my team is attending Track B: High-Quality Wellness Action Planning, who should we send to the Academy?
Districts should send 3-4 members of their interdisciplinary district wellness team. For Track B, it is recommended that teams send individuals who helped lead the triennial assessment process as well as additional individuals whose expertise will be key to writing action plans. For example, a district may send their Food Services Director, Health/Physical Education Chair, and Assistant Superintendent, as well as their Nursing Supervisor if the team plans to strengthen nutrition education in their setting. Please reach out to Kate Williamson, Project Coordinator for the CT WSCC Partnership (ctwscc@uconn.edu) if you would like to discuss your district’s team membership before registering.

Should each team member attending the Academy submit a registration form?
No, one team member should complete the registration form on behalf of the entire team.

What should we do to prepare for the Academy?
Both tracks require advancing planning by the team. Teams in Track A must complete Step 1 and Step 2 of the triennial assessment in advance of the Academy. Teams in Track B must complete the entire triennial assessment (Steps 1-4) in advance of the Academy. Additionally, it is important that team members attending the Academy bring the log-in credentials needed to access to the district’s WellSAT.org account where the triennial assessment was started or completed.

What should we bring with us to the Academy?
All attendees should bring a device to access their district’s WellSAT.org account where the triennial assessment was started (Track A) or completed (Track B). Attendees will also use their device to access digital copies of Academy materials. Wireless internet access will be available; attendees might consider consulting with their district’s IT department in advance of the Academy to ensure there are no settings on their device that will prevent them from logging into the Guest network at UConn Hartford. Please see below for information about lunch during the Academy.

Will we be able to receive support after the Academy?
Yes, teams who attend the Academy will have access to follow-up support from the CT WSCC Partnership as they work to bring their work back to their districts. Additional details will be shared at the Academy.

    What does the Academy cost?
The 2025 WSCC Academy is offered at no cost to districts. There is no registration fee and materials will be provided free of charge.

Where is the Academy being held?
The Academy is being held at the UConn Hartford Times Building (10 Prospect Street, Hartford, 06103). The main entrance to the building is located on Front Street (18 Front Street). Please use the doors directly across from the Barnes & Noble.

Where do I park for the Academy and how much does it cost?
Parking will be fully validated for attendees who park in the Convention Center Garage (100 Columbus Boulevard; see parking instructions). The Convention Center Garage is a short walk from the UConn Hartford Times Building. Please bring your parking ticket with you to the Academy to be validated (do not leave it in your car). Attendees are welcome to find on-street parking or to utilize other garages in the area, but we are not able to provide parking validation for those sites.

What should we do for lunch?
There will be a working lunch during the Academy. Food will be provided by the CT WSCC Partnership. If you have special dietary needs, please indicate those in the Registration Form or reach out via email. We will do our best to accommodate special dietary needs but will communicate in advance if we are unable to do so. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own lunch to the Academy if preferred.

Who do I contact to discuss accommodations for the Academy?
We are happy to provide accommodations. If you might need an accommodation to participate in the 2025 WSCC Academy, please contact Kate Williamson, Project Coordinator for the CT WSCC Partnership: ctwscc@uconn.edu.

How can I share information about the Academy with others?
Please feel free to spread the word about the Academy! Here is a flyer.pdf you can share!

Who can I contact with additional questions?
Please feel free to contact Kate Williamson, Project Coordinator for the CT WSCC Partnership, with any additional questions about the Academy: ctwscc@uconn.edu. For more information about the triennial assessment process, please visit the CSDE's website.

The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model is the CDC’s integrated framework of health and learning. The child is at the center of the model and surrounded by three layers: coordination of policies, processes, and practices in schools; 10 components for organizing school practices; and finally, the community in which the school is situated.
