    • Requires districts to attest to SDE that they are providing students the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to understand and avoid the effects of alcohol, of nicotine or tobacco and of drugs on health, character, citizenship and personality development.

    • Requires SDE to develop, and annually update, a document local and regional boards of education can use that provides information on educational, safety, mental health and food insecurity resources and programs available for students and their families.

  • After School Programs
    • Provide academicenrichmentand wellness activities to support student learning and development. 
  • Comprehensive Health Services and Sexual Health Services 
    • Partnership to increase adolescents' access to developmentally appropriate health services that can include discussions and information about healthy relationships; education about and access to contraception, including the availability of condoms; HIV/STD and pregnancy testing; and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccinations. 
  • Comprehensive School Health Education 
    • A planned, sequential PK-12 effective health education curriculum designed to motivate children and youth to maintain and improve their health, prevent disease, reduce health-related risk behaviors and develop and demonstrate health-related knowledge, attitudes, skills and practices. 
  • Healthy and Balanced Living Curriculum Framework 
    • Provides districts guidance to implement PK-12 curriculum that addresses the physical, mental, social, and emotional dimensions of health of students. 
  • Healthy School Communities for Successful Students Partnership 
    • Funded by a grant from the CDC and Prevention Division of Adolescent and School Health to increase the capacity school districts to implement policies and practices in sexual health that improve students’ health and academic outcomes. 
  • HIV/STD Education Program
    • One component of the Partnership includes the delivery of comprehensive sexual health education on HIV and STIs. 
  • School Health Profiles 
    • A survey used to understand and inform the state of health related programs and policies imiddle and high schools 
  • Sexual Health Services 
    • Services provided to students to protect their health, including preventative education, such as education about and access to contraception, condoms, and STIs. 
  • Teen Pregnancy Prevention Policies, Programs, and Services 
    • One component of the Partnership addresses the delivery of comprehensive sexual health education on teen pregnancy prevention. 
  • The Support for Pregnant and Parenting Teen Grant
    • Grant for the improvement of the psychosocial health and academic outcomes of students who are pregnant or are parenting. Offers parenting and life skills education and support services.
